Have you ever had someone in your life that you deeply wanted to make proud? Maybe it was a parent, grandparent, teacher, coach, or boss? Or perhaps it’s a person you’ve always looked up to—someone whose approval meant the world to you?
Now, what if I told you there’s someone who is already proud of you before you ever lifted a finger to try and earn it? Someone who loves you unconditionally, no matter what you do or don’t do.
In my experience, that someone is God—whose infinite love surrounds us every day, with no conditions attached.
Before Jesus performed any public miracles, God spoke these powerful words: “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” And He said this before Jesus did anything to prove His worth.
Do you see yourself as God’s precious child, too? Beautifully made in His image—loving, kind, gentle, powerful, worthy, and abundant?
So when did we start believing that we had to do something extraordinary in order to make others proud?
In our human striving, we often find ourselves centered around one goal: to earn validation from someone else. It might be in our personal relationships, social circles, or even in the workplace. We seek approval because we fear rejection and desire acceptance. But what if that fear is rooted in something much deeper—fear of not being enough?
God is not like an earthly king. He didn’t come to rule with an iron fist or demand endless efforts from us. Instead, He chose to walk among us as a servant—loving us more than we can imagine. His love isn’t transactional; it’s unconditional.
Think back to that person you want to make proud—the one who always seemed to do everything right, had all the answers, and never made mistakes. Are you striving to please them?
Or are you, perhaps, meant to live out a unique life that is yours alone—a life designed with purpose, by a Creator who already calls you “very good” just as you are?
The Lord invites us to remember that it’s impossible to please both man and God at the same time.
How does that resonate with you?
Do you feel disconnected from the people around you, or do you feel like you’re constantly caught in the battle between seeking others' approval and aligning with what pleases God?
For me, this has been a struggle at different points in my life. I had an early experience of God's presence as a child, and I still found myself constantly seeking approval from others. I spent years trying to please people, always looking outside myself for validation, and feeling unfulfilled because I was neglecting the most important relationship—the one with my Creator.
When we focus too much on seeking validation from the world around us, we forget that we are already seen and loved by the One who made us. It’s like we’re hiding from a love so deep and so infinite that it never fades, never leaves us, and never depends on what we do or don’t do.
One of the images I often return to when I forget who I truly am is that of Christ gently wiping away anything that doesn't belong to me. Like a loving mother wiping dirt from her child's cheek, He reveals the true beauty that is already there regardless of what I "do" without need to prove anything.
It’s a reminder to check my heart: Am I acting from a place of love, or fear? Fear of not being accepted? Fear of rejection?
The validation we seek doesn’t come from others—it gets to come from God if we want it. And He says that we are already chosen, beautiful, wonderfully made, and very good.
Today, I choose to live from the space of “I am very good” as seen through the eyes of God—before I do anything, before I accomplish anything. What a peaceful, empowering space to create from, knowing that I’m loved unconditionally, no matter what.
I invite you to embrace that truth for yourself. You are already enough. You are already loved. You are already worthy.
Take a deep breath, let go of the need to prove yourself, and step into the abundance that God has already prepared for you.
Abundant blessings to you today and always.
